Katara Therapy has been serving Van Buren, Cass, and Berrien Counties since 2017. Katara Therapy provides confidential, professional therapy to children, adolescents and adults. Katie and Kerrie are both licensed Masters Social Workers with over 30 years combined experience working with children and families. Linda is a Limited Licensed Masters Social Worker who has extensive experience working with families and individuals in Van Buren and Berrien Counties. We understand the systems and challenges that families are facing and can assist in navigating these issues in order to develop and maintain a strong family bond. We also have worked with numerous individuals to improve self-esteem, individual strengths, and to decrease symptoms.

Therapist's have training in treating: trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, phobias, ADHD, ODD anger, substance use disorder and many other disorders. Katie is trained in TF-CBT, EMDR, ERP, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused and Strength Based therapies, and CFRC. Linda has additional training in treating substance use disorders.

Meet Katie.....

I have 12 years of experience working with children, families and adults to build healthy boundaries and relationships. My expertise is trauma therapy. I strongly believe that it is a therapist's duty to continue to educate themselves and grow in order to provide the best clinical experience for clients.

In addition to trauma therapy, I have extensive training in helping people with OCD, anxiety, depression as well as helping patients with life difficulties by utilizing exposure therapy. Call me today to see if I am the right fit for you!

Meet Kerrie.....

Kerrie Summerhill is a Licensed Master Social Worker who has 20+ years working with children and families in the community.

Are you struggling with some things in your life and you don’t know where to turn next? My goal is to help others get back on track so they can lead a productive life. I am here to assist you and to help you work through whatever it is that you are facing. It is my goal to help you discover ways to improve your life and to meet your personal and relationship goals. Listening to others and focusing on their strengths is what I am passionate about.

I have over 27 years of experience working in the community serving both adults and children. I have worked with children who have experienced trauma and who have anger, self esteem, depression, mood disorders, and anxiety issues. I have experience in working with adults who have experienced childhood trauma and substance abuse issues and who have had struggles with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I also have experience in working with children who are on the Autism Spectrum. I am looking forward to partnering with you on this journey.

I am willing to have night appointments. I work with people of all ages. I specialize in anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, relationship concerns, trauma/PTSD, and children on the Autism Spectrum.

Meet Linda.....

Linda Barton is a limited licensed Mental Health and Substance Use Therapist, with 10+ years of experience. Linda earned her master’s degree in social work from Simmons University in Boston, MA. In addition, she holds a graduate certification (SPADA) in Addiction from Western Michigan University. Linda is a Certified Advanced Drug & Alcohol Counselor (CAADC); Certified Peer Recover Mentor (CPRM) attained from The Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals. Linda also holds a permanent Recovery Coach certification from the Michigan Dept. of Health and Human Services.

Linda has worked as a therapist in outreach, medication assisted treatment (MAT) programs,

community mental health (CMH), inpatient rehabilitation substance use, and outpatient medical services. Linda specializes in addiction, individual; group therapies, and case management.

Linda shared that she was influenced by her personal experiences in therapy and recovery that prompted her to become a social worker. Linda has worked to dispel the stigma and negative perception of mental health and addiction in rural communities.
